Playhouse Square, the second largest theater complex west of Lincoln Center includes 10 performance venues in a 1920’s era downtown District. The Enhancement Project was conceived as a way to improve pedestrian traffic and business sales on nights when the theaters were not operating by bringing the elegance of the theater interiors to the exterior areas of the District. The project included Gateways spanning the streets to denote the District, a Retro Sign with Color Changing Lighting, a Plaza with Fireplace, Stage and Burger Stand, LED Marquees, LCD Sidewalk Kiosks, Historical Architectural Building Lighting and at the heart of the Project the world’s largest outdoor Crystal Chandelier. All light sources added as part of this Enhancement are LED’s offering energy efficiency, controllability and reduced maintenance.
